KISA East MCA Laid to Rest
Member of the County Assembly of Kakamega (MCA) representing Kisa East Ward Hon. Stephen Maloba who met his death through murder was on Saturday laid to rest at his Munjiti home in Khwisero Sub-County.
The County legislators led by the Speaker, Hon. James Namatsi called for justice in the murder of their colleague.
They eulogised Hon. Maloba as a selfless servant leader, a true patriot and a peace maker.
“We are calling on the wheels of justice to ensure that those who killed Hon. Maloba are brought to book.
“The family of the late MCAs is yearning for justice. The Assembly is demanding for justice.” Hon Namatsi said during the burial service at Munjiti primary school, conducted by St.Joseph Catholic Church.
The MCAs raised concern over their security calling on the national government to accord them bodyguards.
While addressing the mourners, Kakamega Governor, H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa extolled Hon. Maloba as great leader who was committed to championing the welfare of the common man in society.
The Governor assured Honorable MCAs that the Council of Governors (CoG) is in the process of addressing modalities on how they can be assigned armed bodyguards.
Deputy Governor, Hon. Ayub Savula mourned the fallen MCA saying the late was a promoter of good governance and a man of integrity.
Several leaders who attended the funeral include, Siaya Governor, H.E James Orengo, former Kakamega Governor, H.E Wycliffe Oparanya, former Defense cabinet secretary, Eugene Wamalwa, Former Kakamega Senator, Hon. Cleophas Malala, Roots part leader, Prof. George Wajackoyah.
Others were, Mumias East member of parliament, Hon. Peter Salasya, his Emuhaya counterpart Hon. Omboko Milemba and several MCAs from across the country.
Hon. Maloba was serving his first term.
He is survived by a widow Mrs. Rael Maloba and six children.
