Kisii Community Living in Uasin Gishu Condemn Utterances by Kitutu Chache MP Richard Onyonka

Kisii community living in Uasin Gishu has condemned the utterances by Kitutu Chache MP Richard Onyonka utterances.

Onyonka during a meeting in Kisii called on Kisii community living in Uasin Gishu to go home ahead of the general elections in fear of post election violence.

Led by the Uasin Gishu Kisii Council of Elders David Nyambane thye termed his utterances as uncalled for and ill intended.

“As the Gusii community living in Uasin Gishu we want to condemn his utterances with the strongest terms possible, we want to assure him that we have peace and there is no cause of alarm,” said the Kisii Council of elders while speaking to the press.

They said they have stayed in the County for many years and bought properties and no one whatsoever had threatened them on the same.

“As Gusii leaders we want to assure our leaders back home that we are peaceful since we have intermarried and our governor Jackson Mandago has been in the forefront of preaching peace and urging residents to coexist peacefully with one another,” he added

Cheptiret Kipchamo Ward MCA Gilbert Tenai termed Onyonka’s utterances as desperate measures of looking for votes.

“If a leader of your calibre can tell people to go home yet they were born a day brought up here, where do you want them to go, thus is just desperate measures since you have seen that your party is deteriorating and now he wants to divide the community with fear, but I want to assure the Kisii community that there be peace before, during and after the general elections,” he said.

He called on politicians to ccompete on manifestos and not tribal politics.

“Onyonka’s utterances are uncalled for and as the community living in Uasin Gishu we elect not buy it whatsoever .We will stay here and vote here since we were born and raised here,” Samora Machel said.

Uasin Gishu deputy governor Daniel Chemno said Onyonka is planting fear in the people of Gusii living in Uasin Gishu so that they can vote for three people they want.

“The Gusii community have married and intermarried with Kalenjins and you cannot create fear for them to go back to Kisii.I want to urge leaders not to plant fears so that they act and think the way you want, let people vote the way thye want,” said the Uasin Gishu deputy governor.

Chemno further assured residents of their security bbefore, dyeing and after the general elections.

“I want to assure resident that we are going to conduct peacefull elections and there will be peace ni matter the outcome of the general elections,” he added.
