In a bid to enhance the aesthetic appeal and create a distinct identity for premises in Kitale town, all property owners have been directed to paint their buildings olive green. This directive was announced by Governor George Natembeya during the County Usafi Day held at Railway Grounds in Kitale.

Governor Natembeya, alongside members of the Kitale town board, emphasized the importance of maintaining organized and visually appealing surroundings for businesses to thrive. “You cannot be getting rent from tenants and yet the environment they operate from is disorganized,” remarked Governor Natembeya, highlighting the necessity for premises to reflect a sense of order and attractiveness.

The initiative, which aims to beautify commercial buildings, will see formal notices issued to landlords instructing them to refurbish and paint their properties in the designated color. This move is expected to not only improve the overall appearance of Kitale but also foster a sense of pride among residents.

Furthermore, the County Executive Committee for Lands, Physical Planning, Housing, and Urban Development announced plans to ensure ongoing cleanliness and maintenance of Kitale’s streets. Each street will be assigned to a specific department to oversee its cleanliness, ensuring that the municipality remains tidy and well-maintained.

In collaboration with the World Bank-supported program (KISIP), the county government also intends to enhance infrastructural development in informal settlements within the municipality. This includes paving roads and installing street lights in areas such as Matisi, Mitume, Maridadi, Kalabana, and Shimo la Tewa, among others.

The announcement was met with support from members of the Kitale Municipal board, county officials, and representatives from various departments. With a comprehensive approach to urban development and beautification, Kitale is poised to undergo a transformation that not only improves its appearance but also enhances the quality of life for its residents.
