Kitale Town Beautification Initiative Aims to Boost Status and Attract Investments
In an ambitious move to elevate the status of Kitale town, Governor George Natembeya’s administration has launched a comprehensive beautification initiative.
Spearheaded by the Department of Lands Planning, Housing, and Urban Development, the project encompasses tree planting, street cabrowning, and repainting of all buildings within the town.
“The county headquarters have also undergone a major facelift as part of the comprehensive effort to uplift the town’s overall appearance and attract investments and visitors” the CEC observed.
During an inspection of the ongoing project, CEC Lands Janerose Mutama emphasized the county’s commitment to enhancing Kitale’s standards and quality of life for its residents.
The town’s infrastructure had been neglected for many years, but under Governor Natembeya’s leadership, priority projects aimed at transforming the town’s landscape are being implemented.
One of the key aspects of the initiative is the installation of LCD screens within the town, which will be used to publicize various county government projects, job opportunities, and county events.
This move demonstrates the county’s commitment to effective communication and citizen engagement.
Furthermore, the beautification of streets aligns with Governor Natembeya’s agenda for environmental conservation. The county aims to contribute to increasing the forest cover by planting one million trees annually across the county.
This also supports the national government’s target of planting 15 billion trees by 2030. To achieve this, ornamental trees will be planted, not only beautifying the town but also actively conserving the environment.
To ensure a smooth process, the county government plans to relocate businesses that may be affected by the project. Talks have already been initiated with the business owners to address their concerns and facilitate a seamless transition.
In a call for collaboration, the CEC urged other stakeholders, particularly the business community, to contribute to the beautification efforts under their social corporate responsibility.
“Businesses are encouraged to participate in enhancing the appearance of the streets where their establishments are located by painting them, thus collectively transforming Kitale town within three months” she added
With this comprehensive beautification initiative, Kitale town is set to witness a significant transformation that will not only enhance its visual appeal but also create an environment conducive to attracting investments and fostering community pride.
