KNEC under fire for allegedly contradicting KCPE Results

Parents from two primary schools have taken the National Examinations Council (KNEC) to court over alleged contradictions in the results of this year’s KCPE candidates.

Parents from Kitengela International School and Greenhill have gone to court to seek justice for their children after claiming that some of the results released by KNEC were incorrect. Through their lawyer, Danstan Omari, some of the parents have claimed that their candidates were given low marks and that these results deprived their children of justice and want KNEC to explain how it arrived at the marks it awarded to the pupils.

“We have picked the number of pupils in these schools who have left and we have given the marks they had before they left and the final marks they got under KNEC and these children have done tremendously well, now where did KNEC cook these results from?” said Omari.

Parents have also slammed the KNEC council for the irrelevance, saying the results need to be verified before letters of invitation for Form 1 pupils are issued from tomorrow. The Attorney General, the Minister of Education, the Ministry of Labour and the Teachers’ Recruitment Commission have also been sued, with lawyer Danstan Omari adding that they have evidence that there are contradictions in the results.

“There are candidates who did not score 400 marks but their results from KNEC are 400 and above. we have provided the evidence to the court to show the contradiction,” Omari added.
