Launch of Cheminya Water Project

Residents of Kaptarakwa Ward in Keiyo South have a reason to smile after the KES 26.6 Million Cheminya Water Project works was handed over to the contractor.

The handover was presided over today by the North Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency (NRVWWDA) CEO Mr. Edwin Rotich.

The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Water Sanitation and Irrigation in Collaboration with the County Government of Elgeyo Marakwet through North Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency (NRVWWDA).

The scope of the work involves rehabilitation works which includes; fencing and embankment of the dam, solarization and pumping unit of 37.5m3 per hour, Rising Main Pipeline of 5KMto Kitany and Chepteran Tanks, Distribution Network of 8Km and footbridge.

The project is expected to benefit 3,000 people along the catchment area of Orapno, Kitany, Kiebor, Biwott, Toot and Chebior for both domestic and irrigation use.

In attendance was MP Keiyo South Gideon Kimaiyo, Water and Environment CECM Jason Lagat, Chief Officer ICT and Communication, Daniel Kimutai, MCA Hon. Mathew Cheruiyot and officials from the Ministry of Water as well as North Rift Valley Water Works.
