Launch of the Tourism Training Revolving Fund
In a groundbreaking initiative to enhance the tourism and hospitality sector in Kenya, the Cabinet Secretary for Tourism, Rebecca Miano, today announced the launch of the Tourism Training Revolving Fund. This pioneering program is designed to provide students and employees in the sector with access to essential loans aimed at capacity building and skills development.
During the launch event, CS Miano highlighted the importance of equipping the workforce with the necessary skills to drive the industry forward. “This fund represents a significant investment in our human resources. By partnering with the Higher Education Loans Board, we are making strides towards a more skilled and competent workforce in the tourism sector,” she stated.
The Tourism Training Revolving Fund is the first of its kind in Kenya and aims to address the pressing need for training and development within the industry. The loans will enable participants to pursue various educational opportunities, from vocational training to advanced degree programs, ensuring they are well-prepared to meet the demands of an evolving market.
“By empowering our youth and current employees with the right skills, we are not only enhancing their employability but also ensuring the long-term sustainability of our tourism sector,” Miano added.
The initiative is expected to benefit thousands of individuals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Interested candidates can apply for loans through the designated channels, with details available on the Ministry of Tourism’s official website.
As Kenya aims to position itself as a leading global tourist destination, the launch of the Tourism Training Revolving Fund marks a critical step towards achieving a skilled workforce ready to meet international standards.
