Likuyani MP Wants Matunda-River Nzoia to Brigidier Contractor Removed
Likuyani Member of Parliament Innocent Mugambe now wants Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) Philemon Kiprop Kandie to remove Matunda-Rivernzoia to Brigidia road Contractor.
Mugambe says the contractor has failed in his mandate and the contract should be terminated with immediate effect and a competent given the opportunity.
“It’s sad that the contractor despite being given the contract two years ago has done nothing, the only thing he did he erect the signpost and left. The road is currently in a bad state and the KERRA DG should do something,” said the Likuyani member of parliament.
Mugambe was overseeing the grading and then murraming of the road after collecting funds from friends.
“It has been hard for me to add more money for the tarmacking of the road because the law does not allow me to put more funds yet the road is under a contractor,” added Mugabe.
“This is why we decided to team up with the community and collect some money for us to grade and murram the road so that it can be passable as we wait on the next step that will be taken by KERRA,” the Likuyani legislator said.
He wondered why despite many visits to the KERRA Directors’ office nothing tangible has been done.
“Why has the director General taken ages to act, which interest does he have on the same? We are telling you to terminate the contract with immediate effect and replace him immediately. If the road will not be tarmacked we will come for you,” he said.
The road covers 9 Kilometers from Matunda to Brigadier.
