Maendeleo ya Wanawake Names Their Preferred Candidate to Deputise Raila Odinga
Maendeleo ya Wanawake National chair lady Rahab Muiu now wants opposition leader Raila Odinga to take Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua as his running mate.
Speaking during Maendeleo ya Wanawake function in Eldoret Muiu said Karua who was also in attendance is fit to deputize Odinga.
“As Maendeleo ya Wanawake officials we want the running mate position to be reserved for a woman and we feel the one who is qualified for the position is none other than Martha Karua who has what it takes for the same,” she said while speaking to the press.
Karua is currently the party leader of the Narc Kenta Party and he recently endorsed opposition leader Raila Odinga’s presidential bid.
She further called on the deputy president Wiliam Ruto to also choose a woman as his running mate.
“Any serious Presidential candidate should make sure that the seat of second in command is reserved for a woman and we as women are determined to fight for our rightful place in the next government,’ added Mulu.
She castigated the women folk for not voting into the high office one of their own they seek for elective seats during the election in the country terming their action as regrettable.
“It is unfortunate that whenever one of own stands up to contest a top seat in the country, she fails to make it due to lack of support from her won women folks in the country and its time to change that negative attitude for the empowerment of the women in Kenya,” added Mulu.
