Major Police Bust in Nairobi Nets Robbery Suspects, Firearm, and Alleged Stolen Goods
In a significant blow to criminal activity in Nairobi, detectives have arrested three suspected robbers and seized a cache of stolen goods following a meticulous investigation. The operation targeted armed gangs that have been terrorizing residents in the capital city.
Leveraging forensic evidence gathered from past robberies, detectives from various units – DCI Headquarters, Starehe, and Athi River – collaborated on a sting operation. This led to the apprehension of 39-year-old Julius Osoro Nyagoi in Kilimani. After questioning Nyagoi, investigators followed a trail to his residence in Athi River’s Green Park Estate. There, they captured two additional suspects: John Michael Muturi, 38, and Charity Njeri Kimani, 34.
A thorough search of the house yielded a loaded Czeska pistol with ammunition, various suspected stolen items including car parts, multiple mobile phones and laptops, potentially fraudulent ATM cards, and several registration plates for different vehicles. The operation also netted four vehicles parked at the property, which were impounded for further investigation.
The three suspects are presently in custody at Pangani Police Station and are scheduled for arraignment today, April 11th, 2024. This arrest marks a success for law enforcement’s intensified efforts to curb the surge of armed robberies plaguing Nairobi. The recovered items suggest these suspects may be linked to multiple past crimes, and further investigations are likely to shed light on the extent of their criminal activity.
