Matatu Workers Union Kind Message to MOA
Matatu Workers Union would like to thank the membership of Matatu owners association for electing new office bearers.
Led by General Secretary Maurice Oduor, the union noted: “We would like in a special way to congratulate Mr Albert Karakacha and his team on being elected in office.”
He added:“The role played by the public service vehicles in our country is very crucial in moving the economy and therefore MOA’s support geared towards taking care of our members social well being, health, economic empowerment and Policy formulation that will lead to decent jobs like any other sector is one that the union welcomes and support wholeheartedly.
Workers should also like to be involved in making policies that will dignify this sector and be part of the government policy that include Affordable Housing, universal health cover and retirement benefit scheme.
The PSV sector is among the contributors to road crashes in our country MOA has agreed to work with our union to reverse this trend
This collaborative venture will see MOA membership spread across 42 counties emphasizing on sensitisation of drivers and conductors giving priority to road safety and addressing Psychosocial issues that the workers are facing.
Our rallying call to the Government to support MOA, MWU and all industry players for it to achieve its vision of safety on our roads, creation of employment among the youths and improving working conditions to spur development.”
