Investment Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano EGH has underscored the importance of embracing innovation in a bid to spur and accelerate economic growth. Speaking at the University of Nairobi, she noted:

“Kenya stands at the forefront of Africa’s startup funding landscape, with Kenyan startups having secured an estimated $673.78 million from both local and international investors in 2023.

Returning to my alma mater, the @uonbi, is always a pleasure, especially for the inauguration of the annual Nairobi Innovation Week. This premier event serves as a vital platform for fortifying the innovation ecosystem by fostering closer ties between government, industry, academia and the community, thereby promoting inclusive and sustainable development.”

She added,

“Innovation serves as the engine driving industrial breakthroughs, aligning seamlessly with Kenya Kenya Kwanza’s agenda. It acts as a pivotal catalyst in attracting investment, enhancing the manufacturing sector’s contribution to GDP, doubling exports, fostering a more favorable business environment and nurturing entrepreneurship, particularly among the youth, to spur job creation and economic growth.

As a staunch advocate for Kenya’s progress, I wholeheartedly commit my Ministry’s support to propel Kenya towards its vision of becoming a rapidly industrializing middle-income nation.
