I am honored and pleased to be taking part in this significant ceremony; a ceremony that signifies our commitment as government to fostering working partnerships amongst public entities, as well as between public entities and the private sector to enhance the country’s efforts towards effective correctional management.
Ladies and gentlemen, my impression is that for all of us here today, this moment is loaded with history and memories of how this building came into being and its significance to the State Department for Correctional Services as a whole. I am excited at the timing of this event as well, falling just before Christmas Holidays.
Therefore, the multipurpose hall serves as a Christmas gift to the inmates of this correctional facility. As you have all heard the Multipurpose Hall has been constructed with the generous support of RIG East Africa.
The multipurpose hall is designed to host various activities in the facility. We hope that this hall will assist to promote the involvement of the inmates in various co-curricular activities within the prisons. At this juncture, I wish to thank RIG East Africa for this great initiative that perfectly complements our desire to improve our correctional institutions to be centres of excellence. I have no doubt whatsoever that the building will be utilized efficiently, for the benefit of the inmates.
I am confident it is in capable hands. Finally, thank you all for your support and for being with us today. May good tidings come your way in the new year 2024.
