Uasin Gishu Director of Education Khaliff Isaac Hassan now says that all schools have received capitation funds.

Speaking to the press Hassan said that learning is going on well and therefore no cause of alarm.

“I want to confirm that the County has received capitation money from the Ministry of Education and has been disbursed to primary, junior secondary, and senior secondary schools,” said the Uasin Gishu director of Education.

A Circular signed by Basic Education Principal Secretary Belio Kipsang on June 14, 2023, the funds are for the first term of 2023, and the third quarter of the 2022-23 financial year.

“Learning in all public schools in the County is going on well and all students have resumed while teachers from both primary and secondary schools are preparing for their National examinations,” added Hassan.

On co-curricular activities, the County Director of Education said music and ball game completion at the County level are going on.

“This term we are having a co-curricular activity that is music and ball games. We have launched the County primary and secondary Music competition which are the teams that qualified at the sub-County levels,” said Hassan.

He called on parents to allow their students to participate in co-curricular activities saying it has more good than harm.

“Co-curricular activities fuel your learning by stimulating creative thought, improving your social and organizational skills, developing their interests and talents, and offering them the chance to switch off and do something they really enjoy,” he said.
He added that Co-curricular activities in higher education aid in boosting student success.

As students engage with clubs and programs, they can strengthen their academic knowledge and gain valuable skills they may otherwise not have,” he added.
