Moi University’s College of Health Sciences has issued a stern warning to its students regarding a shortage of condoms across health facilities in the region. In an internal memo signed by Public Health Officer P.L. Sekenkei, the university administration highlighted the crisis, urging students to exercise caution and take preventive measures to protect themselves.

The memo, circulated among students, revealed that the current condom shortage has affected not only the university but also several health facilities in the area. “There is presently no supply of condoms to health facilities around, and students are therefore advised to be cautious,” the memo read.

In response to the crisis, the university recommended several key preventive actions for students. First and foremost, students are encouraged to abstain from sexual activities during this period. Alternatively, the administration advised those in relationships to remain faithful to one trusted partner.

For students who choose to remain sexually active, the memo urged them to purchase protection from commercial outlets where condoms are still available. Additionally, the administration recommended that students keep themselves busy with “other worthwhile activities” to reduce risky behavior.

While the shortage has raised concerns about the health and well-being of students, university officials reassured them that they are actively seeking solutions to restore the supply of condoms to on-campus health facilities.

The memo has sparked conversations among students about the importance of sexual health awareness and the need for ongoing education on safe practices. Some students expressed frustration with the shortage, while others supported the call for alternative preventive measures, such as abstinence and responsible relationships.

The university health department is expected to continue monitoring the situation and will provide further updates to students as the condom supply is restored.

For now, students are urged to prioritize their health and safety by adhering to the advice provided in the memo.
