Speaking during the issuance of cheques to beneficiaries Tiren said the scholarship will benefit bright and needy students from poor backgrounds.
“Today I have presided over the issuance of presidential cheques worth sh 1.3 million out of which 123 students from both secondary and colleges benefited,” said the Moiben member of parliament.
Tiren says his aim is to ensure that bright and needy students pursue their education.
“My aim is to ensure that every student get access to education no matter his or her financial background since every child has the right to education as enshrined in the Kenyan constitution,” Tiren added.
He called on the beneficiaries to work hard and should ensure that they concentrate on their education.
“For the beneficiaries make sure that you use this chance to study and thereafter help your family. You should concentrate on what took you to school because this is the only opportunity that will help you change your family status,” he said.
He called on Kenyans to continue following the directives by the Ministry of Health to prevent the further spread of coronavirus.
“I want to call upon Kenyans to continue following the directives by the Ministry of health such as washing hands before and after every activity, avoid overcrowded places, put on facemasks, and if possible stay at home to prevent further spread of the virus,” said the Moiben MP.
