More teams book slots for Gavana Wa Raia Cup Final
More teams picked their tickets for the Sub County finals Gavana Wa Raia Cup as momentum to win Sh1 million gathers pace.
Kimuron Youth FC from Kapchemutwa Ward blinked Iten All Stars in a tense match played at Iten grounds with a slim 1-0 win before scoring in each half against Chebokokwa FC in a game that they dominated at the finals.
Kimuron, under soccer maestro Boniface Kunusia, will have to square it out with Cheptarit FC from Emsoo, Kessup from Tambach and Kapteren FC from Kamariny Ward who booked their slots yesterday.
Cheptarit came from a goal down to draw with Kokwao FC to win in post match penalties, a relief after losing their centre back and talisman Evans Kipkemboi to injury.
In Keiyo South, Kapchorwa FC emerged top of the group with 4 points and will now represent Metkei Ward. Metkei FC drew its two games with Tabare securing a point in games played at Kamwosor Primary School field. Kipsaina silenced Cherota 1 nil to book a slot to represent Chepkorio Ward at the Sub County Championship.
Kipriria FC also emerged winners and will join Keibor in representing Kabiemit and Kaptarakwa Wards respectively. They now join Muskut and Soin Fc who qualified yesterday.
Kapsowar Girls High School was filled to capacity as Lawich battled it out to outsmart Kipsinot FC by 2 goals to nil to clinch Kapsowar Ward championships in a thrilling evening encounter.They will now join Kolony FC and Kerer FC from Arror and Lelan who secured their slots today while Cherangany-Chebororwa and Moiben-Kuserwo will have their playoffs tomorrow.
To sum up the day, Che-Ka FC from Kapyego booked a ticket to represent the Ward in Marakwet East Sub-County championships.
They join Valley Eagles from Endo and Masete from Embobut-Embolot for the finals as Sengwer had their games postponed to a later date to be communicated.
H.E Governor Wisley Rotich said the tournament was a platform for young soccer enthusiasts to develop their talent. “I am happy about the sportsmanship and talent exhibited in various Wards today. We got talent all the way from the village,” he said.
Winners were awarded with cash prizes and sports gear.
The games head to Sub County Championship where four teams will be picked for the grand finale on 13th August.
