My Administration Is Ready For Aggregation Centers, Governor Bii Assures
Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has affirmed his administration’s readiness to make the county a business hub through establishment of aggregation centres and industrial parks.
Speaking Monday when he hosted Principal Secretary for the State Department of Industry, Dr Juma Mukhwana, on the Governor’s Round Table with the Business Community, Bii noted that the county is working on programs and policies that will further support investment in Uasin Gishu.
We are ready to work closely with the private sector in promoting trade and doing everything possible to have investors establish their businesses and industries here in Eldoret,” said Bii.
According to PS Dr Mukhwana, there is a need to set up various industries in Kenya to make Kenya a competitive nation in terms of the production of raw materials, and value addition that will ultimately result in job creation for thousands of unemployed youths.
The PS assured investors of the availability of markets across the continent noting that the free trade area act is now operational and has opened up market opportunities across Africa. “There’s a need to partner with private investors to spur the manufacturing industry,” he added.
Deputy Governor Eng John Barorot lauded the manufacturers for playing a role of employment to the youth, urging them to embrace the digital transformation to improve their businesses.
Uasin Gishu Assembly Speaker, Philip Muigei, said the county legislature is ready to support trade-related laws to allow investors to set up businesses in the county. He added that the assembly will soon be deliberating on inter-county levies to promote trade in the region.
County Executive Member for Trade and Industrialization, Martha Cheruto, called on the business community to frequently engage the county government on business development aspects for them to enhance the productivity of their business.

Later on, Governor Bii, accompanied the PS on a tour of the 135 acres of land in Cherunya, Langas ward, Kapseret sub-county, where an industrial park is set to be established.
Assembly Deputy Speaker, Sarah Malel, Evans Kapkea (chair of Assembly’s Trade commitee), County Secretary Edwin Bett, CECMs Eng Lucy Ng’endo (Sports), Dr Abraham Serem (Water), Janeth Kosgei(Education), Anthony Sitienei (Lands), Eng Joseph Lagat (Roads) were among other dignitaries present.
