As the curtains close on Customer Service Week today, Nairobi County has successfully provided over 5,000 free meals to city residents at Hilton Square since October 7. The initiative, which drew large crowds, was aimed at showcasing the county’s dedication to improving customer service and offering residents an opportunity to experience the services available.

Speaking at the “Dishi na County” booth, where the food distribution was based, Customer Service Chief Officer Zipporah Mwangi highlighted that the meals served to the public were a taste of what schoolchildren receive under the county’s feeding program.

“We serve nutritious hot meals to over 310,000 learners across Nairobi. This event allowed parents and guardians to experience firsthand what their children eat every day under the Dishi na County program,” Mwangi explained.

The Dishi na County initiative, which celebrated its first anniversary in August, provides affordable meals to students across the city’s 17 sub-counties. “With Governor Sakaja’s leadership, we are feeding learners a nutritious meal for just five shillings,” Mwangi added.

In addition to free meals, the event offered a platform for Nairobians to learn about various county services, including the Unified Business Permits. Mwangi emphasized the simplicity of the current system: “We now have one license for businesses, unlike the past where multiple licenses were required for a single business.”

Various county sectors, including mobility, the liquor board, education, and finance, set up booths at the square, engaging directly with residents and addressing their concerns. This face-to-face interaction between the county government and the public marks a significant step in improving customer service delivery.

The week-long celebration not only brought the county government closer to the people but also educated residents on the numerous services and facilities available to them.

Customer Service Week has been a successful demonstration of Nairobi County’s efforts to enhance service delivery and foster a more efficient relationship with its residents.
