In a proactive move towards fostering development and curbing the harmful impacts of illicit alcohol, Nakuru County Governor Susan Kihika has enacted two pivotal bills. The Nakuru County Revenue Allocation (Amended) Act and The Nakuru County Alcoholic Drinks (Amended) Act have been signed into law, marking a significant stride in the county’s governance strategy.

The Alcoholic Drinks Act, a cornerstone of the legislative agenda, aims to regulate the production, sale, and consumption of alcohol to protect public health. By safeguarding individuals, particularly minors, from the detrimental effects of excessive alcohol consumption, this legislation also addresses issues like illicit trade and counterfeiting.

Meanwhile, the Nakuru County Revenue Allocation (Amendment) Act establishes an equitable and transparent framework for distributing county resources among wards. It includes provisions for funding ward activities, prioritizing projects, and ensuring public participation in decision-making processes.

The signing ceremony, graced by Speaker Hon Joel Karuri Maina, County Assembly leadership, and relevant committees, underscores a commitment to advancing the well-being of Nakuru County residents. Speaker Karuri expressed satisfaction with this milestone, emphasizing its significance in enhancing service delivery and improving livelihoods in the County of Unlimited Opportunities.
