Nandi County police boss orders investigations into the murder of a 20-year-old Who was Sodomised
Nandi County police commander has ordered an investigation into the murder of a 20-year-old youth whose lifeless body was found dumped on the shores of River Lemok on the border of Uasin Gishu and Nandi Counties.
The 20 year old Kelvin Chirchir is said to have disappeared on Thursday 17th of last month And his lifeless body was found on the 17th of the same month at around 10.00am.
“We are informed he left his Mpesa shop at Selia hurriedly after making very long calls, only to be found dead, after arriving at the scene, we noticed his left eye had been gorged out, he had bruises around his neck,, his trouser had been torn from behind and an autopsy report indicates he had been sodomized, the report also indicates that he had unknown chemical substance in his stomach that’s likely to be poison, said Dennis Kemboi his brother
The deceased’s mother Pauline Biwot who lives with a disability says despite making reports at Kipkaren Selia police station, no arrests had been made two weeks later,
“I know I am poor and no action has been taken by the police because of that, but as a family, we managed to raise 5000 ksh to fuel the police vehicle in order to move the body of the deceased to the Kimbilio Hospice Mortuary but since then no statements have been recorded from us and neither have any arrests been made with the connection to the death of my Son,” Said Biwott.
Biwott says the family depended upon the deceased for their daily upkeep and they continue to live in fear since they are unaware why Kelvin had to be murdered in the most inhuman way
“I suffer from hypertension and high blood pressure despite my disability, my son has been providing medications for me, he is the only one with a job among my children, we urge the police to arrest the culprits behind the death of my son “Noted Biwott.
The residents of Simat have now threatened to demonstrate against the inaction by police officers from Kipkaren -Selia police station if no arrests will have been made within two weeks in connection to the heinous murder
The Nandi County Police Boss Joseph Kavoo has assured of speedy investigations into the murder of kelvin Chirchir and assured the residents that police officers involved in soliciting bribes at the police station will be investigated and arraigned in court.
Kimutai Kirui A human rights activist with the Center against torture has called for an overhaul transfer of police officers who have overstayed in many of the police stations within Nandi County
“We are informed this is the fifth murder incident to have been reported within Simat area and unfortunately we are seeing a lot of police inaction, we implore upon the Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) to investigate these officers for abetting serious crimes” noted Kimutai.
