Nandi: Woman Kills Man Who Defiled Her 2-Year-Old Daughter
A woman from Kolong village in Emgwen constituency, Nandi County on Thursday allegedly killed a man she claims defiled her two-year-old daughter.
Police stationed at Kamombo Patrol Base first heard about the incident from the area chief who reported that the woman, only identified as Cheptoo, had confessed to killing the alleged paedophile over a phone call.
When officers from Kamombo arrived at the scene, they were barred from accessing the site by an irate mob which was baying for Cheptoo’s blood.
“They (mob) wanted to kill Cheptoo. The officers from Kamombo then called for reinforcements from Kapsabet Police Station,” Nandi Central Sub-County Police Commander David Anyir told Citizen Digital.
“Additional officers from Kapsabet then rushed to the scene to support the Kamombo officers and rescue the woman.”
After some time, the officers were finally able to rescue the woman who had been roughed up by the mob.
“Our patrol vehicle’s windscreen was smashed by residents but we were able to rescue the woman. The mob however barred us from retrieving the deceased’s body,” said Anyir.
He added that the woman’s house was burnt down following the rescue.
Police, Anyir went on, have since asked the area’s chief to negotiate for the release of the man’s remains. This had yet to happen by the time of publishing.
Cheptoo is currently nursing her injuries at Kapsabet Referral Hospital pending legal action.
