The State Department’s Assistant Director of Industries, Ms Lydia Mwenga, on Monday toured the Nasewa Industrial Park in Matayos constituency to assess progress at the facility.

According to the site contractor, Mr. Nyongesa Ojanji, and the Chief Officer for Trade and Industry, Mr. Elijah Mwaro, the facility is estimated to be halfway from completion.

The Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry has signed Intergovernmental Partnership Agreements with 18 county administrations, including the County Government of Busia.

The agreements specify the parameters under which the County Aggregated Industrial Parks (CAIPs) will be implemented.

“Although the project is on course, we have so far encountered some challenges including unclear weather conditions. I am certain that we are doing well. I have also set up a new work plan to make sure that the work is completed on time,” implores the contractor.

The State Department team, led by Ms Mwenga has committed to resolve the cash flow issue to ensure the smooth completion of project, in accordance with the revised work plan.

County directors, Mr Joseph Nyangweso (Public Works) and Mr Hudson Sireka (Industry) were also present during the site tour.
