Governor Natembeya Directs County Askaris to Stop Harassing Traders
Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya on Thursday directed his enforcement officers to stop harassing traders who have been inconvenienced by ongoing road construction within Kitale town.
Speaking on a tour of the town, Governor Natembeya advised the enforcement officers to allow the traders to carry out their businesses in the makeshift places in the meantime before his administration puts up infrastructure for them.
“We are aware that you have been inconvenienced by the ongoing road construction and have been subjected to harassment by my county Askaris. I am now directing that you be allowed to do your businesses peacefully,” said the Governor.
He said the county government will set up markets within the town through the installation of containers and rehabilitation of the road network within the town to avoid inconveniences.
He also challenged traders to embrace the Nawiri fund which will be issued at an interest of 3% to help them boost their businesses saying this will help in boosting commercial activities in the Agricultural town.
The Governor also toured the Bus Park where he called for sanity in the bus terminus saying cases of hooliganism must be eradicated by ensuring that each Matatu Sacco has order in handling of passengers.
“We cannot allow cases where hooligans who are not staff of any Matatu Sacco want to run the show in this bus park. We want sanity so that we can utilize this bus terminus for transport and business purposes,” said Governor Natembeya.
The governor was accompanied by the county secretary Truphosa Amere, CECMS Samson Ojwang (PSM), Stanley Kirui (Trade), Dickson Wamocho Chief of Staff, Sammy Sichangi, Emmanuel Wamalwa PA among others.
