NCBA Bank has opened a new branch in Kerugoya Town, marking a significant step in the bank’s retail expansion strategy. The new branch, located at the Oasis Building in Kerugoya, was officially inaugurated by Kirinyaga County Governor H.E. Anne Waiguru in a ceremony attended by NCBA’s Group Chairman Mr. James Ndegwa, the bank’s senior leadership, and local leaders.

The opening of the Kerugoya branch brings the total number of NCBA branches in the country to 97, with 29 counties now served by the bank. It is the fifth branch the bank has launched this year as part of its broader initiative to increase its footprint and improve access to banking services across Kenya.

During the ceremony, NCBA Group Chairman Mr. James Ndegwa highlighted the bank’s commitment to supporting local businesses and communities in the region. He noted, “This branch is a new beginning, not just for NCBA but for the people of Kirinyaga County. With a population of over 39,000 people, agriculture is the backbone of the local economy, and we aim to provide tailored banking solutions to help sustain this growth.”

The new branch will offer a wide range of services, including savings and current accounts, personal and business loans, asset financing, and investment solutions for local wholesalers. In addition, customers can access mobile and internet banking, allowing them to manage their finances conveniently from anywhere at any time.

Governor Anne Waiguru welcomed the establishment of the NCBA branch, emphasizing its importance in driving financial inclusion in the county. “Kirinyaga County has a population of close to 1 million people, and the opening of this branch marks the beginning of financial freedom for business owners, residents, schools, and others who transact large amounts of money. I encourage all residents of Kerugoya to take advantage of the accessible financial services to help grow our local economy,” said Waiguru.

NCBA’s entry into Kerugoya aims to address the financial needs of the region, offering solutions like NCBA Till, mobile banking, online banking, and PDQ machines. These services are designed to make banking more accessible and seamless for both individuals and businesses.

The Kerugoya branch will operate with a dedicated team of nine staff members, who have been trained to provide high-quality, customer-centric services. With modern banking technologies and a focus on customer privacy and comfort, the branch is poised to enhance the banking experience for residents and businesses in the area.

In addition to expanding its services, NCBA is also committed to sustainability. As part of its “Change the Story” initiative, the bank aims to plant 10 million trees by 2030. At the opening ceremony, NCBA staff planted trees at Jivanjee Park in Kerugoya and donated 60 trees to the County Government of Kirinyaga.

With its strategic focus on regional development and customer accessibility, NCBA’s new Kerugoya branch is set to play a vital role in the economic resilience and prosperity of Kirinyaga County.
