NCCK Warns Youths Against Using Social Media to Post Inflammatory Statements
The Northrift National Council Of Churches in Kenya( NCCK) in charge of youths Rev. Silas Ruto has warned youths against using Social media in posting inflammatory statements.
Speaking to the press Ruto said such statements might cause violence as the country is heading to the August polls.
“I want to sincerely call upon the youths across the country to refrain from using their social media platforms to spread hate messages instead they should post peace messages which ensure we have a peaceful election,” said Rev. Ruto.
He further called on politicians should also be accountable for the utterances saying they post on Facebook.
“Those politicians seeking utterances should stop posting incitive posts on their social media platforms should be accountable on what they post since thye have a large following which they believe in what they write,” he added.
He called on parents to start preaching peace in their houses and should not allow their children to be used by politicians to cause violence.
Rev Ruto called on youths to be ambassadors of peace as the Country is heading to the next general elections.
”As NCCK we are using every opportunity to preach about peace especially targeting the youth people and especially this electioneering period to live a peaceful time to maintain peace”, Said Ruto.
”We are telling the leadership of these country that we as young people of Kenya are not ready at any given point to be used by agents of violence because these politicians especially these time of elections there is these things you as young people to use and misuse you in a way that is not pleasing before God”, he added.
