NemaKenya Director General Leads Wetlands Restoration Launch in Nairobi
NemaKenya Director General, Mamo B. Mamo, EBS, has led the launch of wetlands restoration in Nairobi at Dik Dik Gardens wetland. The launch is part of the ongoing Government’s efforts to plant 15 billion trees by 2032, restore and conserve wetlands and their associated catchments under the newly conceived “Adopt-a-Wetland Initiative”.
The Adopt-a-Wetland Initiative seeks to catalyze the participation of various stakeholders in enhancing wetlands conservation in the country. Wetlands are important for a variety of reasons, including providing habitat for many plants and animals, filtering water, and storing carbon dioxide.
The launch of the Wetlands Restoration Initiative is a significant step forward in the Government’s efforts to protect and conserve Kenya’s natural resources. The initiative will help to improve the quality of life for Kenyans by providing them with clean water, fresh air, and a healthy environment.
