In a vibrant ceremony held today, hundreds of law graduates were officially admitted to the Bar, marking a significant milestone in their professional journeys. The event, which was attended by esteemed members of the legal community, family, and friends, witnessed the swearing-in of the new advocates who are now eligible to practice law in Kenya.
Faith Odhiambo, the President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), was among the key speakers, offering words of encouragement to the newly admitted advocates. She congratulated them for their hard work, discipline, and unwavering commitment throughout their studies, emphasizing that this achievement was a direct result of their perseverance.
“Congratulations to all the new Advocates being admitted to the Bar today,” Odhiambo said. “This achievement is a result of your hard work, discipline, and dedication throughout your several years of study. Maintain the same values in your practice and you shall become distinguished professionals.”
Odhiambo also reminded the new advocates that their admission to the Bar was not just a professional formality but a solemn responsibility to serve the law and the public with integrity. “Remember, your admission to the Bar is not just a mandatory step in your professional course but marks the beginning of lifelong, selfless service to the law and to the public. Undertake that duty diligently and enduringly,” she stated.
As part of her address, Odhiambo welcomed the new members to the Law Society of Kenya, encouraging them to actively contribute to the growth of the legal profession and uphold the high ethical standards set by the organization.
The ceremony was a momentous occasion for the new advocates, many of whom expressed a mix of excitement and pride as they embarked on the next chapter of their careers. With their admission to the Bar, they are now entrusted with the duty to uphold justice and contribute positively to society.
