NLC CEO Leads Progress Talks on Compensation for Development Projects in Makueni County
In a display of dedication to service delivery, CHRP Kabale Tache Arero, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Land Commission (NLC), spearheaded discussions with a delegation from Makueni County, led by Mr. Nicholas Nzioka, the CECM for Lands & Urban Planning.
The meeting aimed to address compensation progress for several crucial projects, including the Manooni and Mulima dams, Kwambila dam, and the Itangini Business Park.
The Manooni and Mulima dams, classified as national government projects, prompted advice from the NLC CEO for Makueni County to collaborate with the Tana Athi Water Services Board to secure funds for compensating affected persons. For the Kwambila dam project, compensation is being executed in two phases, with the first phase already completed and the second phase scheduled for on-site inspections to facilitate accurate valuations.
The discussion also delved into the Itangini Business Park, a nascent project where the process is underway to publish an intention to inquire requisition document, underscoring the meticulous planning and foresight characteristic of NLC’s approach to land management and development.
The meeting saw the participation of key stakeholders, including Mr. Jackson Daudi, the Makueni County Officer for Lands & Urban Planning, Mr. Peter Ndonya, the Makueni County Surveyor, Mr. Patrick Waweru, the NLC County Coordinator for Makueni, Ms. Dorcah Buyaki, the Acting Director of Valuation at NLC Kenya, and Mr. B. Cherutich, the Director of Finance at NLC.
