North Rift Council of Imams and Muslim Preachers of Kenya chairman Sheikh Abubakar Bini now want the government to fastruck the process of getting passport.

Speaking during Madaraka Day celebrators Bini said he process is hectic and takes long for Muslims to be issued with a passport.

“As Muslim from the region we are disappointed with the process of getting a passport since its hectic and vetting takes more than two years, surely are we less Kenyans,” said the Northrift CIPK boss.
He called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene for sanity to prevail.

“There is one woman who has been seeking for passport to go and be treated in India unfortunate she recently died without getting it just because of vetting. Vetting took over three years, we are Kenyans like other Kenyans if a deputy governor can get in two weeks, Bini should get in three weeks that is one week should be for vetting,” Bini added.

Bini applauded the County commissioner Stephen Kihara for solving the ID issues where a section of Muslims were denied identity card due to the voting process.

“We want county commissioner Mr. Kihara to also look into the matter just like what he did to the Identity cards issue , we have had many county commissioners but you have done the best and we have faith the issue will be solved once and for all,” said Bini.

Bini called on UDA politicians to accommodate other political parties saying everyone has the right to campaign in all parts of the County.

“Let allow everyone be it UDA or independent candidates to campaign across the County and politicians should sell their manifestos to the electorates and not insults and threats as the Country is heading to the August polls,” added.

Uasin Gishu is the home of the deputy president William Samoei Ruto and residents have been urged to vote for UDA candidates only.

He noted that very candidate should be given security no matter his or her political affiliation and there should be a level playing field where everyone should be given a chance to campaign.

“Instead of one saying what he will do he accuses other one especially seeking for votes on an independent party ticket to an extend to an extend that they now fear campaigning across the County,” he said.
