North Rift Youths urged to Embrace Sports for Talent Nurturing and Success
Trans Nzoia County’s Chief Officer for Sports, Dr. Roselyne Nasiebanda, has called upon the youth in the North Rift counties to actively participate in sports to develop their talents and reap the rewards.
Dr. Nasiebanda made these remarks during the recently concluded Athletics Kenya North Rift Regional Track and Field Championships, held at the Ndura Sports Complex.
Addressing the crowd, Dr. Nasiebanda stressed the importance of engaging young people in activities that occupy their minds and help them discover their untapped potential, which often goes unnoticed and fades away if not nurtured. She highlighted the immense opportunities available in track and field events in Trans Nzoia, encouraging aspiring athletes to take part in international competitions to further develop their skills and achieve higher levels of success.
Dr. Nasiebanda also praised the efforts of the Trans Nzoia County Government, led by Governor George Natembeya, in promoting sports in the region. She revealed that the government has already initiated projects, including the construction of a modern stadium in Kitale, aimed at bolstering sporting activities in the county.
The recently concluded championships saw Pamela Kosgei and Samuel Toili emerge as the champions in their respective events. Following their remarkable achievements, Mr. Jackson PKemoi, the Chairman of AK North Rift Region, appealed to Dr. Nasiebanda to act as the patron for the regional team representing North Rift in the upcoming event in Nairobi. He also urged for the necessary support and facilitation for the team.
The outstanding performance of these exceptional athletes has earned them the opportunity to represent Trans Nzoia County at the highly anticipated National Championships, scheduled to take place from 22nd to 24th June 2023 at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi County.

The remarkable achievements of these athletes have brought great honor to Trans Nzoia County. Their dedication, hard work, and unwavering spirit have resulted in an impressive medal tally, with Trans Nzoia County securing a total of 18 gold, 8 silver, and 11 bronze medals.
The Athletics Kenya North Rift Championships brought together athletes from five counties, including Trans Nzoia, West Pokot, Samburu, Elgeyo Marakwet, and Turkana.
