“As elders from the North rift region we want to call upon politicians to stop using incitive words as we are heading to the general elections and they should not force anyone to vote for them,” said the Northrift Kikuyu Council of Elder chairman.
Uasin Gishu is one of the Counties that was badly affected by the 2007 general elections.
He said if thye humbly ask for votes without forcing or threatening they will humbly be elected.
“Seeking for votes is like looking for a girl you cannot force her to love you but instead you humbly seduce her to fall in love with you, politicians should follow suit,” he added.
Gatonye noted that politicians should not use chest thumbing to get votes.
“Let us keep peace and avoid inciting people and you should sell your manifesto peacefully since if there is no peace there will be no elections, let’s love one another and live together as brothers and sisters,” Gatonye said.
He noted that during the August elections those who will be defeated who accept the results.
“If one is defeated should accept and avoid causing violence. Youths should desist from all forms of violence ahead of the August 9 polls and anyone who will be found causing violence stern actions should be taken against them,” he said.
