NPS AND PARTNERS HOLD A STAKEHOLDERS BRIEFING
The National Police Service, in furtherance of its pursuit to provide adequate security during the electioneering period, jointly with the RE-INVENT programme and other stakeholders held an election preparedness briefing today at the Fair View Hotel, Nairobi.
In attendance during the meeting were senior officials from IEBC, heads of state and non state agencies including IPOA, and IAU, women and interests groups including FIDA and IJM among other stakeholders.
Presentations centred on key areas of election preparedness including election work plan, deployment, equipment and communication strategies to address misinformation and disinformation.
The NPS Head of Election Secretariat, Mr. Dominic Kisavi, Commissioner of Police highlighted deployment plans and assured participants of security preparedness in this year’s General Election.
He indicated that the service has trained all police commanders both at the national, county, sub-county and station levels in an exercise that kicked off in March 2022. He further mentioned the availability of aerial support to address reported emergencies during this period.
While underscoring the importance of credible information, the NPS Directorate of Corporate Communication through CI Kahindi Charo outlined a raft of measures and ongoing activities on key messaging.
The Directorate has taken keen interest to concerns on peace and security programmes, youth and peaceful elections, human rights and law enforcement, protection of the vulnerable, and violence against women in elections.
