The Speaker emphasized the collaborative nature of the PSC, encouraging Wamatinga to work closely with other commissioners in fulfilling their mandate of addressing the welfare of parliamentarians and parliamentary staff, as well as promoting healthy intra-parliamentary relations with the Executive and Judiciary.

“We want you to settle in quickly and support the Commission’s role in strengthening the relationship between Parliament and other arms of government,” Wetang’ula added.

Hon. Wamatinga was assured of the support of fellow commissioners, including Hon. Mohammed Ali, Hon. Mishi Mboko, and Hon. Patrick Makau. Hon. Mboko, who is also the Likoni MP, welcomed him to the team, noting, “We work as a team here, and I’m sure you’ll contribute to making it even stronger.”

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Wamatinga expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, thanking the Senate for approving his appointment. He acknowledged the privilege of serving as a PSC Commissioner and pledged to learn and collaborate effectively with his colleagues. “I am ready to learn because no one has a monopoly of knowledge,” Wamatinga stated.
