In a meeting chaired by Party Leader Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga, the Central Management Committee of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has announced key decisions affecting the party’s structure and future direction.

The party officially confirmed the resignation of several high-profile officials who have been appointed by President William Ruto to serve as Cabinet secretaries. Those stepping down include Hon. John Mbadi, National Chairperson; Hon. Opiyo Wandayi, Secretary for Political Affairs; Deputy Party Leaders H.E. Wycliffe Oparanya and Hassan Joho; and Beatrice Askul Moe, a member of the Party Elections Committee.

ODM emphasized that there is no agreement between the party and Kenya Kwanza, affirming its continued role within the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition. The party will persist in its opposition stance, advocating for accountability, transparency, and equity in governance.

In response to the recent vacancies, ODM will undertake a process of wide consultations to fill these positions. Proposed changes include appointing Hon. Junet Mohamed as the new Minority Leader, Hon. Millie Odhiambo as Minority Whip, Hon. Caleb Amisi as Chair of the Public Accounts Committee, and Hon. Oundo as Vice Chair of the Public Investment Committee.

The ODM remains dedicated to addressing national issues, including equity, unemployment, and corruption—concerns highlighted by Kenyans, particularly the younger generation. The party stresses the need for a structured national conversation to resolve these issues comprehensively and promptly.

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna underscored the party’s commitment to these principles and outlined the forthcoming leadership and strategic changes aimed at strengthening the party’s position and impact.
