OJAAMONG ANNOUNCES 94 DAYS OF TAX WAIVER
Busia Governor,Sospeter Ojaamong has announced the grant of 100 per cent waiver on interest and penalties on land rates within the county.
In an advertisement appearing on local dailies, the Governor said the waiver is valid for a period of 94 days with effect from 26th January, 2022 to 30th April, 2022.
” I urge property owners to take advantage of the waiver period and pay their rates. All payments made within the waiver period will be clear of any surcharge in the form of interest for late payments,” he said.
He added: ” Payments should be made to Busia County Revenue Fund Account No. 1140748017, KCB Busia Branch and deposit slips to be presented to the respective Sub County Revenue offices of Teso North, Teso South, Nambale, Butula, Matayos, Samia and Bunyala for database update.
” Any unpaid rates after the waiver period shall attract reinstatement of the amount owed. The County Government will deploy alternative recovery mechanisms including respossession of the subject property,” he said.
Chief Officer Lands and Housing Teresia Mbibgi said the grand rate arrears for all properties in the county amounts to Ksh.9.7 million and accumulated penalties of Ksh.174.8m.
