Outstanding Performance, Dedication, and Commitment Recognized at the SDDA End-of-Year Event
The State Department for Diaspora Affairs (SDDA) recently celebrated excellence, dedication, and commitment among its staff during a ceremony held at its headquarters in Nairobi. The event, presided over by Principal Secretary Ms. Roseline Njogu, recognized officers who have gone above and beyond in their service to the Kenyan diaspora.
PS Njogu awarded both seasoned professionals and young officers who have excelled in their roles. In her remarks, she commended the team for their remarkable efforts, noting the significant progress the department has made in establishing robust structures to better serve Kenyans abroad. She highlighted key milestones achieved over the past two years, including the launch of the SDDA Strategic Plan, the development of the Mental Health Action Plan, the drafting of the Diaspora Policy 2024, and the Diaspora Investment Strategy.
The PS emphasized the importance of fostering excellence, teamwork, and individual initiative, particularly among young diplomats within the department. Among the honorees were officers who played pivotal roles in negotiating historic labor agreements with Germany and Austria, as well as a dedicated team that facilitated the evacuation of Kenyans from conflict zones in Sudan, Lebanon, and other regions.
The event also provided an opportunity to reflect on the department’s numerous achievements, such as the rollout of Mobile Consular Services, the Kazi Majuu program, and the hosting of four regional job fairs across the country. Revitalizing diaspora engagement through public barazas and interactive platforms has further strengthened the bond between Kenyans abroad and the government.
Additionally, the SDDA was celebrated for its success in organizing Diaspora Day and the inaugural Jamhuri Diaspora Awards earlier this month, marking significant milestones in diaspora relations.
The ceremony, which doubled as the department’s end-of-year celebration, highlighted the importance of recognizing outstanding contributions while motivating officers to continue delivering exceptional service.
