Over 160 Dorper Sheep Distributed to Megun and Moiben Women Groups

Governor Bii’s administration is keen on ensuring that farmers’ livelihoods are improved through various diversification programs that are enshrined in his Nguzo Kumi blueprint plan.

The Department of Agriculture, Agribusiness, Livestock Development and Fisheries has initiated diversification programs such as Inua mama na Kuku, distribution of beehives, Dorper sheep and high-value crops among others.

Speaking during the distribution of Dorper sheep in Toloita, Moiben Sub-county, County Executive for Agriculture Mr. Edward Sawe urged the residents to join the cooperative societies to benefit from the County programs.

“We want to ensure that our women farmers are trained to contribute significantly in the eradication of poverty and hunger before we empower them with the dorpers,” says Sawe.

Livestock Development Chief Officer Mr. Nixon Cheplong while leading a similar exercise in Megun Ward and Megun Ward in Kapseret Sub County said that the empowerment program aims at securing the future of the residents by putting money in their pockets.

County Assembly Majority Leader Hon. Julius Sang and Moiben ward MCA Hon. Hillary Kipchumba praised the County for working with MCAs to uplift the economic status of the residents.

Director Livestock Production Abraham Kiptanui ward Administrators and other County officials were present during the distribution exercise.
