The CEC Member for Health and Sanitation Ruth Koech has advised parents to nurture their children well in order for them to have a better future.

Ruth said parents should look at their children in the best way possible if they want the youngsters to be important people in future.

While speaking during the Ndalat Gaa Girls prayer day on Sunday, the CEC said there is need for the children to be provided not only with accessible but quality education.

She said education is one of the most valuable tools a parent can give to his child, but she said some parents have denied their children a right to education by not taking them to school.

“Lay a good foundation for your children by ensuring that they get good education despite the economic challenges. I know we are all going through a lot because of the current economic situation but as parents we need to try our best and ensure our children get the best,” she said.

The CEC challenged women to constantly speak to their children about sex education instead of shying off the delicate topic exposing them to teenage pregnancy.

She decried that the lack of advice from the parents have led to increased cases of teenage pregnancy and school dropout in the county denying the county women input in economical development.

She noted that the girl child needs to be loved, cared for and given a strong foundation where they can grow well so that they become useful citizens.

Dr Olympia Okal who was the Chief Guest at the event encouraged the girls to keep their focus on Education, and encouraged them that no matter ones background, they all had the potential of a bright future.

Mosop Constituency Member of Parliament Hon Abraham Kirwa urged the students and the school management to focus on being a school of leadership and excellence and wished the candidates well.
