People think they’re describing their abusive partner when they say ‘this person has mistreated me for so many years.’ Yet the fact that you put up with the disrespect and abuse for that long says as much about you as it says about them. And this is not to exonerate the abuser or to blame victims of abuse, but to bring out the fact that after you see abuse the first time the responsibility for self protection shifts to you.

No one needs to become the slave of another in the free world of today. People submit to these inhuman treatments because of fear of launching out on their own.

Secondly, foundations matter. I saw one lady saying she financed her own dowry and wedding obviously because the man was reluctant and, as expected, the marriage broke down within months. And now that’s a trending story? If a contractor puts a shoddy foundation and the building later comes down before its even completed, would that surprise anyone? Or would people pity him for his losses? We would simply ask them ‘what else were you expecting?’

There people who preach anarchy by saying there’s no manual to life but that’s just lazy nonsense. There may may not be a manual per say but there are principles that govern life. One of such principles is that choices have foreseeable consequences, and shutting your eyes does nothing to change that fact.
