Peter Wanjala Palang’a: Transforming Lives in Webuye West
Peter Wanjala Palang’a, the Olkaria Member of County Assembly (MCA) from Nakuru, is making significant strides in community development in Webuye West.
Known for his humanitarian efforts, Palang’a has launched a series of initiatives aimed at improving the lives of local residents.
In a bold move to equip the youth for the digital age, Palang’a has sponsored a free information communication technology (ICT) training program. Over 500 youths from the constituency have benefited, gaining vital skills in computational thinking and problem-solving. The program, fully funded by Palang’a, was designed to prepare participants for the challenges of an increasingly digital world.
In addition to educational support, Palang’a has organized five free medical camps, providing essential healthcare to over 5,000 residents. One of the camps specifically targeted the eradication of jiggers, successfully treating 300 victims and addressing a critical health issue in the community.
Palang’a has also turned his attention to housing, having built five houses for widows in the area, each with a durable roof made of 32 iron sheets. He highlighted the need for such initiatives, stating, “Poor people don’t have the capacity to build comfortable houses due to their poverty levels.”
Furthermore, the MCA is actively promoting sports among the youth, sponsoring various activities that keep them engaged and entertained during school holidays. “Our constituency has immense sports and other talents that ought to be harnessed,” he remarked, emphasizing the importance of nurturing local talent.
Looking to the future, Palang’a has plans to implement additional programs aimed at uplifting the elderly, youth, and widows in the constituency. Importantly, he has clarified that his humanitarian efforts are not linked to the upcoming 2027 elections, stating, “My focus is on genuine community upliftment, not political gain.”
As Peter Wanjala Palang’a continues his work, he remains a pillar of support for the people of Webuye West, demonstrating the power of leadership rooted in compassion and commitment to community well-being.
