Plant a tree today for a greener tomorrow!
The Director General of the Kenya Wildlife Service, Dr. Erustus Kanga, on Monday joined Head of Public Service
Mr. Felix Koskei, Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry Soipan Tuya, Principal Secretary of the State Department for Forestry Gitonga Mugambi, , Maara Member of Parliament Kareke Mbiuki and Deputy Governor Francis Kagwima for a tree planting exercise at Chogoria Hills in Mt. Kenya National Park.
Mt. Kenya is one of Kenya’s crucial water tower and an important wildlife ecosystem. The forest cover will help conserve and protect this important biosphere and UNESCO Site.
Koskei urged members of the public to support and partner with the Government on the tree-growing initiative to combat the effects of climate change and associated impacts. He invited members of the public to join him every third Monday of the month to plant trees as part of the National Tree Growing Strategy.
Over 10,000 tree seedlings were planted during the exercise.
