Plug Mtaani Launched in Garissa County
The Garissa County Government, through the ministry of trade in partnership with Garissa Chamber of Commerce and Industry , is thrilled to announce the launch of the Youth Business Idea competition for Garissa’s youth.
The CECM Trade, Investment and Enterprise Development, Hon. Mohamed Suleiman said,’We can now feel the effect of devolution, we have never had a business competition in Garissa County.’ He encouraged the youth to take advantage of the locally available resources and develop innovative business ideas.
The event was also graced by the CECM Lands, Livestock and Urban Development, Hon Muhamed Hussein and CECM Education, Iformation and ICT, Hon Ebla Minhaj
The plug Mtaani-Vijan2Imvest Garissa Chapter was supported by the USAID funded LMS program, in collaboration with the County Government of Garissa.
The LMS program, implemented by ACDI/VOCA, aims to expand viable economic opportunities and build community capacity for resilience and growth.
The County Programme Manager of the USAID funded programme, ACDI/VOCA Mr. John Kutwa praised the business idea competition, saying it will encourage the youth to be innovative.
The Plug Mtaani National Coordinator and Director Geoffrey Kilonzo said Garissa represents the North Eastern Regional Economic bloc that is famous in Livestock.
“We expect great ideas around the Livestock value chain from the county and the region at large. He called upon stakeholders to join PLUG Mtaani Kenya in this incredible opportunity to empower the youth to showcase their entrepreneurial skills,” he said.
The CEO Garissa Chamber Mr. Addiwahid Ahmed also called upon the youth to be a part of the #plugmtaani and #vijana2invest movement.
