Political Parties Warned Against Zoning of Regions Politically

Samuel Koskei Programs Coordinator Justice and Peace department Catholic Diocese of Eldoret has cautioned political parties against zoning of regions politically.

Speaking to the press in Eldoret during the peace actors meeting Koskei said zoning is dangerous and might bring war.

“I am calling upon political parties to refrain from zoning and should allow all political parties to move freely across the country without zoning. If zoning is embarrassed it might lead to conflict leading to war during the August polls,” said Koskei.

He says every political party has the right to campaign across the Country.

“Denying someone to campaign in a particular region is a crime and might bring division based on tribal and political affiliation. Let everyone campaign since voters are the ones who will decide who their leaser will be,”Koskei added.
He warned youths against being used by politicians to cause violence instead thye should preach peace.

“I want to tell youths during this electioneering period to shun politicians who want to use them to cause violence but they should instead be peace ambassadors since it’s their future that they are destroying. Youths should elect transparent, corruption free and leaders with dignity since the future lies in their hands,” he said.

“Even if you are given money take it but use your vote to vote for leaders of substance who will change your life. It’s important we maintain peace, before, during, and after the general elections, we don’t have another country and if we accept to be divided by politicians we are the ones who will suffer in the long run” he added.

Murei Henry resident Uasin Gishu urged residents’ to campaign peacefully and avoid inciting Kenyans since elections are just a one-day affair.

“I am calling upon all aspirants to maintain peace and should refrain from utterances that might bring war, this time around we have vowed to maintain peace before, during, and after the general elections,” he said.
