Preparations in Top Gear for the Second Edition of the Great Chepsaita Cross Country
The second edition of the highly anticipated Great Chepsaita Cross Country is set to bring together families, athletes, and communities in a grand celebration of sports, unity, and education. With the event just around the corner, organizers are confident that everything is in place to ensure a successful and safe occasion.
Speaking at a press briefing, Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Dr. Abdi Hassan highlighted the extensive collaboration and consultations that have taken place during the planning process. “We have worked hand in hand with the organizers and stakeholders on all areas of concern that may lead us to the success of this event. While we may not have much to report today, we extend our heartfelt thanks to the regional commander and the security team for their wonderful support,” said Dr. Hassan.
The event promises not only to be a celebration but also an opportunity to reach out to counties such as Kakamega and Nandi. “This initiative addresses important issues like education and sports, which are vital to community growth,” Dr. Hassan added.
In light of the large crowds expected, the organizers have called for the maintenance of law and order during the event. Security teams will be deployed throughout the venue to ensure the safety of all participants. “There will be total peace at Chepsaita. Security officers will cover all areas to ensure everyone feels safe. This will be a family day for all, and we encourage responsible celebrations,” assured Mr. Kennedy Tanui, general Secretary of the event said.
To ensure a peaceful environment, the organizing committee has partnered with security agencies to regulate the intake of excessive alcohol and prevent any form of intimidation or disruptive behavior. “Our priority is to create a safe, welcoming space where everyone can enjoy the event without fear,” said Dr. Hassan, emphasizing the commitment to a secure and positive atmosphere.
In addition to the sports festivities, Safaricom has announced that it will provide a medical camp on December 2nd, offering health services to the local community. “This event isn’t just about fun and games; it’s about taking good care of our people, from the youngest to the oldest,” emphasized Mr. Tanui.
The leadership team also praised the athletes for their resilience and dedication in preparing for the event. “We’re proud of our athletes and their commitment. With good management and leadership, we will ensure that we uphold the values that drive this event forward,” Mr. Tanui stated.
