President Ruto Appoints Rashid Echesa as chairperson of Kenya Water Towers Agency
Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa has been appointed as the new chairperson for the Kenya Water Towers Agency.
In a Gazette notice dated May 18, 2023, President William Ruto appointed Echesa to serve as the chairman for a period of three years.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by Paragraph 6 (1) (a) of the Kenya Water Towers Agency Order, 2012, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Rashid Echesa to be the Chairperson of the Kenya Water Towers Agency Board, for a period of three years, with effect from the 19th May 2023,” the notice read in part.
Consequently, former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s appointee L. Arch. Robert M. Kariuki has been dropped from the position.
Environment cabinet secretary Soipan Tuya has also appointed Elisha Busienei and Michael Waititu Maina as board members.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by Paragraph 6 (1) (g) of the Kenya Water Towers Agency Order, 2012, the Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry appoints to be members of the Kenya Water Towers Agency Board, for a period of three years, with effect from the 19th May, 2023,” Tuya said in a gazette notice
