President Ruto Presides Over Kaptagat Annual Tree Planting
President William Ruto In Kaptagat, Elgeyo Marakwet, presided over the 7th Edition of the Kaptagat Annual Tree Planting as part of the Government’s agenda of planting 15 billion trees in the next 10 years — to respond to climate change.
He said the Kaptagat Forest Ecosystem is a critical catchment area supporting thousands of livelihoods in Elgeyo Marakwet, Trans-Nzoia and Uasin Gishu Counties.
“It not only supplies water for irrigation and domestic use but also offers the right training environment for our thriving sportsmen and women. We undertake to work with partners to rehabilitate and restore this key ecosystem, ” he said.
President Ruto also launched Yokot Kapteren Integrated Dam and opened a tuition block at St. Alphonsus Mutei Girls’ High School.
