President Ruto Speaks on the Canada and Finland Scandal
President William Ruto now says those who were involved in the Finland and Canada overseas scandal will face the full force of the law.
He says those involved should refund parents their money before things get worse.
This comes after the Director of Public Prosecutions ordered the arrest of Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago and three others over Finland and Canada Overseas Education Programme.
The other officials are Joseph Kipkemoi Maritim, Meshak Rono, and Joshua Kipkemoi Lelei.
On Wednesday, the head of state who was in Uasin Gishu for the official launching of the 3 days devolution conference, says he is aware of the scandal and urges anyone involved in the swindling of funds for the program to immediately commence refund.
“Hakuna mambo ya kubembelezana hapa, pesa ya mtu ya ng’ombe na aliyeuza shamba ili mtoto asome lazima arudishiwe pesa yake” he said.
He further stated that the students who were duped by the scholarship program will be allocated local scholarships to further their studies.
“Hapo mbele wakati uchunguzi utakamilika,tutaweza kuwasaidia watoto ambao wameshikwa na hii maneno wapate scholarship, japo ndipo tutaweza kuendelea mbele”opined the president.
The scholarship scandal has been further revealed in recent weeks, over 200 parents were duped million of Shillings for the Finland-Canada scholarship program.
