Process To Construct County Headquarters On Course

The County Government of Kakamega will save KShs 90 Million every year once construction of the proposed 14 storey County Headquaters is completed.

This was revealed by the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Public Service and County Administration Mr Lawrence Omuhaka during a meeting organized by his Department to develop a report on a Public Participation exercise on the project carried out on 16th January 2023 at the Kakamega Social Hall in Lurambi Sub-County.

The CECM said the County currently coughs up a whopping KShs 68 Million on rent with the figure expected to rise even higher by KShs 22 Million when the County staff currently hosted at the former Provincial Headquarters offices are moved to private premises as the National Government plans to host more agencies in Kakamega in the spirit of devolving Government functions.

Mr Omuhaka observed that the facility will be constructed using modern technology thus hastening the process and eventual occupation by County officers.

The County Pension Fund (CPF) agreed to construct the facility on a tenant purchase agreement at a cost of KShs 500 Million. It is envisioned that the County Headquarters will enhance service delivery hence actualizing the Governor’s manifesto on Good Governance for the people of Kakamega County.
