PS Motari Launches Comprehensive
Landscape Analysis of Disability
On Monday, Principal Secretary Joseph Motari launched a comprehensive landscape analysis of disability at the county and national levels. The purpose of the study is to lay the foundation for future program collaboration, contribute to achieving service delivery for persons with disabilities, and provide insights on disability policies, programs, and emerging challenges.
The National Council for Persons with Disabilities, empowers individuals with disabilities to effectively participate in socio-economic development through inclusive training and skill development. We aim to create awareness and educate the public on the rights, needs, and opportunities of persons with disabilities, while also enhancing social protection for this community.
The report indicates that respondents surveyed called for the need to review the eligibility criteria for the Inua Jamii programme to better meet the needs of the most vulnerable persons with disabilities.
As directed by His Excellency the President, we carried out a scale-up activity to onboard additional beneficiaries under the Inua Jamii programme. Under the PWSD – CT programme, about 137,000 potential beneficiaries were listed pending onboarding to the payroll.
Additionally, we have also shifted the disbursement frequency from every three months to monthly, eliminating the long wait families used to endure before they received the funds. We have also taken service delivery a notch higher and integrated the receiving of funds on MPESA.
Present were: Ms. Kimberly Ludwig – USAID Director of Democracy and Governance; CEO of IEBC, Mr. Marjan Hussein Marjan; Vice Chairperson Commission of Administrative Justice Commissioner, Washington Sati; Chair Social Protection Committee, Hon Alice Ng’ang’a; Nairobi County Woman Representative, Hon.
